Sullivan Vineyards is a small family operated winery, situated in the heart of Napa Valley. The Sullivan family has been growing in Rutherford since 1972, producing their first wine in 1981. Sullivan Vineyards is dry farmed, this farming technique helps create a wine that is big and velvety and gives rise to the estate's famous vintage, Big Reds. The wine reflects the terroir of Rutherford.
In 1972, Jim and JoAnna Sullivan purchased property in Rutherford, Jim Sullivan, a graphic designer, Jim used his artistic skills as a graphic designer to create a label for Sullivan Vineyards and his innate talent to create a home for his family and make exceptional wine. The Sullivan home and winery were designed by renowned architect John Marsh Davis, designer of such reputed wineries as Rutherford Hill, Joseph Phelps, and Chateau Souverain.Currently, Sullivan Vineyards create limited amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Chardonnay. The tasting room, which is just off the beaten path of route 29, sits halfway down Galleron road in the heart of Rutherford. It is a hidden gem and cozy country tasting room, offering a relaxing atmosphere, great wine, and gorgeous views of the Mayacamas and Vaca mountain ranges.
