Stan Hywet's Collections Department acquires, preserves, and provides accesss to rare and unique materials that document the estate, the Seiberling family, construction, and life on the estate. The department serves as a scholarly resource for the museum's staff and volunteers as well as local, regional, national and international scholars and researchers.
The Collections Department houses an outstanding array of scholarly resources. Special collections include rare books, manuscripts, photographs, maps, architectural drawings, prints, audiovisual materials, sound recordings, newspapers, journals, and other research materials that are part of the Seiberling legacy. The archives also encompass inactive records of Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens, Inc.
Strengths of the collection include historic photographs of the family maps and architectural drawings of their estate. The collection also includes an abundance of American and British literature.
