The Northeast Louisiana Delta African Heritage Museum opened its doors to the public on March 12, 1994. The Parent organization was the Ouachita Historical Society, chartered February 3, 1994.
The aims of this organization are:
To develop the Northeast Louisiana Delta African Heritage Museum and to manage and operate the same
To preserve, promote and provide through the institution and maintenance of the related projects, educational programs that will enhance aesthetic art, cultural awareness and heritage of African Americans
To be a living cultural museum which disseminates and interprets information about the lifestyles, value and rich heritage of African Americans to the larger community
To be a museum of History by preserving and increasing the availability of resources for research and study of African Americans
To be a Museum of art which enhances, develops, promotes and recognizes art forms and local artists.
