Our Mission: The Monmouth Civic Chorus presents a wide variety of choral repertoire for the enjoyment of concert and stage audiences in Monmouth County and beyond. We provide opportunities for some one hundred volunteer members to further develop their musical talents. We value continued growth in artistic excellence, pursued in a welcoming environment that encourages camaraderie and mutual support among members. Because of their strong commitment to the Chorus, members typically continue performing and working behind the scenes for many years.
We envision achieving wide recognition by the artistic community and the general public as the premier regional Chorus in central New Jersey. We seek to maintain financial stability and to attract a large and diverse audience that includes a variety of cultural groups, ages and levels of musical sophistication. We strive to enrich our community through our participation in its musical life.
The Monmouth Civic Chorus is a volunteer community of singers dedicated to artistic excellence in Monmouth County. In addition to singing locally in New Jersey, we have brought the finest in choral music to audiences around the world since 1949. Among our most memorable performances are Carnegie Hall, the New Jersey Performing Arts Center with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, St. Thomas Church on Fifth Avenue in New York City, St. Peter’s Basilica at the Vatican in Rome, and St. Stephen’s Cathedral in Vienna, with members of the Vienna State Opera Orchestra. The Chorus has been called “close to perfect” and “among the very best in the entire Northeast” (Asbury Park Press). We are proud to be the 2008 winner of the Chorus America/ASCAP Alice Parker Award, given to only one chorus in North America each year, and the 2010 Spinnaker Award for Arts and Culture from the Eastern Monmouth Area Chamber of Commerce.
