Mountain Dulcimer Society of Dayton Concert with Lorinda Jones

The Troy-Hayner Cultural Center will host its annual Mountain Dulcimer Society of Dayton concert on January 17 at 7:30 pm. The concert will feature mountain dulcimer artist Lorinda Jones. Lorinda will be in Miami County, Ohio for a weekend long Dulcimer event with the Mountain Dulcimer Society of Dayton. On Friday, January 17, 2025 at 7:30 pm she will be the featured performer for a free concert at the Troy-Hayner Cultural Center.  On Saturday, January 18, 2025 she will host a dulcimer workshop with the MDSD. The workshops will take place at the West Charleston Church of the Brethren in Tipp City, Ohio at 4817 South State Route 202. The first class will begin at 9 am and continue throughout the day. Lorinda began her career teaching music in public school where she developed a series of books for classroom ensembles. She went on to develop programs for adults as well as developing music therapy and educational programs for special needs students. She formed the Heartland dulcimer club, now an active non-profit organization striving to preserve the traditional music of Kentucky and southern Appalachia. She is the director of the Hartland Harp Ensemble and has an active career as a solo performer as well.
