Exhibition - Color in Motion: A Fluid Art Experience

Saturday, Oct 19, 2024 from 10:00am to 12:00pm
Dye and Bleach House Community Gallery
156 River Road

This exhibition invites viewers to dive into the realm of fluid art and discover the unique and sublime structures and reactions that manifest when acrylic paint is allowed to flow freely. In Color In Motion, fluid artist Julie Millus creates vibrant, dynamic paintings on canvas, visually capturing both abstract and realistic interpretations of our colorful and ever-stirring natural world. Each painting's organic qualities are coaxed by the artist's intuitive manipulation of the fluid paint. Millus' work reflects a lifelong fascination with water stemming from the countless hours of her youth spent exploring ocean shores, mountain streams, rivers and waterfalls.

About the Artist

Julie Millus is a Tolland, CT based fluid artist. Growing up in San Diego's coastal communities, she developed an early interest in art which was greatly influenced by her love of the ocean. She attended the University of California where she was accepted into the art major but ultimately ended up pursuing her degree in marine biology. She continued to draw and paint in her spare time. When the pandemic hit, she discovered fluid art and began to experiment with pouring mediums and fluid acrylic techniques.

Millus' current work is characterized by a vibrant, shimmering color palette which she transforms into flowing, whimsical abstract and realistic compositions. She draws inspiration from nature with the aim that her paintings summon a joyful and blissful response.

Julie Millus is an emerging, self-taught fluid artist. Her work was first exhibited in the juried art exhibition Summer Abstracts at Stamford's Artist Loft Association in 2024.

Millus continues to push the boundaries of her art and is working on several new painting series while exploring adding texture to her fluid artworks.
