Founded in 1952 by Amalia Hernández, the company presents choreography from the pre-Columbian era, Spanish colonial period, and revolutionary times, bringing the beauty and tradition of these dances to life in every performance. Hernández choreographed over 70 dances throughout her lifetime, of which many are included in the show’s repertoire. Often performed include Sones de Michoacán (Melodies of Michoacán), the Deer Dance, Fandangos, and Jalisco.
