The first Kelseyville Pear Festival, sponsored by the Kelseyville Business Association, was held Saturday, October 16, 1993, with a handful of street vendors, a barbeque, a scarecrow contest, and a single stage for music. The one day event brought 1,500 visitors.

Today, the Kelseyville Pear Festival is held on the last Saturday in September. There are musicians and dancers on three stages, over 100 craft and food vendors, and special exhibits filling the town. In recent years, it has been a pleasure to welcome nearly 10,000 visitors.

Through the years, the goal of the Festival has been to showcase the agricultural heritage of the Kelseyville and Big Valley areas and vendors with hand-crafted items for purchase. The Main Street shopkeepers spruce up to show off their products.

Kelseyville and the all-volunteer Festival committee works to expand the agricultural exhibits, the Tractor and Engine Show, fine art shows, and areas for the children. History of Kelseyville farming, pioneer families and special events is on display in the Pear Pavilion.

The Kelseyville Pear Festival is happy to partner with Kelseyville Business Association, the Lake County Horse Council; the Ely Stage Stop, an historical destination outside of Kelseyville; and the Lake County Quilt Trail, a trail of wooden quilts that encompasses all of Lake County. Partnering with these groups makes for a fun, strong community centered event.
