Murray Burns is an eccentric, out-of work writer who enjoys living his life to the fullest. And even though he is an “unconventional parent” for his quick-witted 12-year-old nephew, Nick quite enjoys living with his uncle in their small New York apartment. One day, however, a surprise visit from some social workers threatens to disturb their laissez-faire lifestyle. Murray suddenly faces the prospect of finding meaningful employment, proving he is a fit guardian, and handling a budding romance.
This story explores what it means to forge your identity in a society that values conformity.
